Ketamine preparation and integration therapy
Therapy before and after ketamine treatment
Ketamine treatment can bring up a lot. It can also leave people unsure what to do next. P.A.T.H. offers online therapy to help you prepare beforehand, make sense of the experience afterwards, and continue working with the same registered therapist on an ongoing basis.

Where are you now?
I have ketamine treatment booked
Preparation helps you clarify what you hope to work on, any worries or expectations you may have, and build resources you can draw on during the experience. Your therapist can also help you consider the support you may need before and after the appointment.
I am partway through treatment
You may have memories, emotions or questions surfacing between sessions. Therapy gives you time to slow down, understand what is happening and connect it with the rest of your life.
My treatment has ended
While it can be helpful to begin integration soon after treatment, there is no deadline. Whether the experience was meaningful, difficult, disappointing or simply confusing, you can still bring it to therapy and begin from where you are now.
Ketamine can change your perspective for a time. What happens around that experience still matters.
People seek ketamine treatment for different reasons, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms and chronic pain. Whether it is medically appropriate for you is a decision for your prescribing provider.
During treatment, some people feel temporarily distanced from their usual thoughts, emotions or body sensations. Memories, feelings or different perspectives may surface. Others feel very little. The experience can feel relieving, unfamiliar, confusing or difficult.
Preparation is not about scripting what will happen. It gives you time to understand why you are seeking treatment, name your hopes and concerns, consider an intention and identify the support you may need.
Integration gives you somewhere to slow the experience down afterwards, connect it with your history and daily life, and decide what, if anything, you want to carry forward.
The treatment may happen at a clinic. The rest of your life happens outside it.
Depression, anxiety, trauma and persistent pain can affect much more than symptoms. They can shape sleep, relationships, movement, avoidance, self-protection and the way your body responds to stress. Ketamine treatment may offer a different experience for a time. Therapy gives you somewhere to understand that experience in the context of the life you return to.
Ketamine is the medical treatment. P.A.T.H. works with the person receiving it.
Dig deeper into why you are seeking this treatment, prepare carefully, ask better questions and enter treatment with realistic expectations.
Explore what came up and begin integrating any realizations or shifts into daily life.
Continue working on the parts of life that still need attention after the clinical treatment ends.
You can work with the same therapist throughout, so you do not have to start your story again at each stage.
For ketamine clinics and prescribing providers
You provide the ketamine. P.A.T.H. extends the therapy around it.
Not every clinic has the capacity to provide psychotherapy before, between and after every patient's treatment. P.A.T.H. gives your patients somewhere to continue that work with a registered therapist while all medical decisions remain with your clinical team.
Medical decisions stay with your clinic. P.A.T.H. does not advise on eligibility, medication, dose, route or treatment schedules, and does not direct patients toward ketamine providers.
Tell us about your clinic, the provinces you serve and where your patients currently need more support.
You can refer patients for:
- Preparation before their first treatment
- Integration between or after treatment sessions
- Support following a difficult, confusing or disappointing experience
- Ongoing psychotherapy after clinical treatment ends
- Online appointments with a therapist registered for the patient's province
Where clinically useful and with the patient's written consent, their P.A.T.H. therapist may communicate with your clinical team to understand the treatment context and support continuity of care. Communication is confirmed case by case.
Patients pay P.A.T.H. directly. They receive receipts that may be submitted to extended health plans, depending on their coverage.
For patients
Your extended health benefits may help cover the cost
P.A.T.H. sessions are psychotherapy appointments with registered professionals, not coaching. If your plan covers counselling or psychotherapy with your therapist's professional designation, you may be able to claim part or all of the $175 session fee.
We provide a receipt after every session with your provider's name, professional designation and registration number.
Coverage and annual limits vary. We can help you identify what to ask your insurer before you book.
Why work with P.A.T.H.?
Work with a registered therapist who is permitted to see clients in your province.
Meet with the same therapist before and after treatment.
Our therapists have specialized training in preparation, altered-state experiences and integration.
We do not sell ketamine, receive referral fees or make decisions about your medical treatment.
Attend from wherever you are, before, between or after clinic appointments.
Sessions are held by people, not a platform. Every therapist's designation, regulator and provinces are listed on their profile, and your free consultation is with the therapist you would actually work with.
If the experience was difficult, or nothing much happened
Not every ketamine experience feels helpful or meaningful. Some people leave frightened or unsettled. Others feel very little and wonder whether they did something wrong.
You do not need to arrive with an insight. Therapy can begin with the experience you actually had, not the one you expected to have.
If you are in immediate distress or concerned for your safety, call or text 9-8-8. P.A.T.H. does not provide crisis or emergency care.
Common questions
Does P.A.T.H. provide ketamine?
No. We do not prescribe, supply, administer or arrange ketamine. Treatment is arranged independently through a medical provider. P.A.T.H. provides therapy before and afterwards.
Can I start after my ketamine treatment has already happened?
Yes. There is no deadline. You can begin during a course of treatment, shortly afterwards or months later.
Can I use my extended health benefits?
Possibly. Many extended health plans include counselling or psychotherapy, but coverage depends on your therapist's professional designation and your individual plan. We provide the information you need to submit a claim, including the provider's name, designation and registration number.
I take antidepressants. Can I still work with P.A.T.H.?
Yes. Whether ketamine is medically appropriate, and whether any medication should change, are decisions for your prescribing provider. Do not stop or alter medication without speaking with them.
Will someone from P.A.T.H. be present during treatment?
No. Medical monitoring and support during the ketamine appointment belong to the clinic providing treatment. Our therapy takes place before and after the appointment.
Can P.A.T.H. work with my clinic?
Your treatment remains under your clinic's medical care. Where clinically useful, a P.A.T.H. therapist may communicate with your clinic with your written consent. The process is confirmed case by case and depends on the clinic's participation.
You do not need to know exactly what kind of support you need.
The first 20 minutes are free. Tell us where you are in the process and what you are looking for. We will help you decide whether P.A.T.H. is the right fit and which registered therapist may be able to work with you in your province.
